The Project

The project GREENMICE 2P, led by Pamplona City Council as part of the European Interreg VI Spain-France-Andorra programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027), Cross-Border Strategy for the development of a sustainable MICE destination that will help to reduce seasonality in the tourism sector, diversify tourism and contribute to economic development through the creation of local jobs in the region.

Pau and Pamplona are participating in this project to develop a joint cross-border MICE destination, which will position itself as a leading destination in the sector. To this end, a cross-border strategy for the development of the destination will be drawn up, and a series of actions will be carried out to contribute to the promotion, sustainability and innovation of the GREENMICE 2P destination itself. All of this will help to improve the tourism sector in the region, based on the sustainable use of the resources and services offered by both cities.

DURATION: The project began in January 2026 and will last until December 2028.

Development of a Cross-Border Strategy for the Development, Sustainability and Promotion of the GREENMICE 2P Destination. To this end, an assessment of the current state of MICE tourism in the region will be carried out, good practices in cross-border cooperation in tourism matters -and in MICE tourism in particular- will be identified, and a Cross-Border Strategy will be developed and validated.

Positioning, Sustainability, Promotion, and Innovation for the development of the GREENMICE2P Cross-Border Destination. Sustainability criteria and indicators for MICE events will be defined to ensure the development of sustainable MICE events; a promotion, marketing and commercialisation plan for the GREENMICE2P destination will be implemented to establish it as a leading MICE destination in the region; and an innovation and knowledge hub will be launched for the entire sector.

Budget and funding

The GREENMICE 2P project has been 65% co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The aim of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border region. The project has a budget of € 1,160,620.75, of which € 754,403.39 come from ERDF funds provided by the POCTEFA programme.
